Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795
The Merry Fisher 795 is Jeanneau’s outboard weekender of about 7.2 to 7.4 m: a wheelhouse boat with a forward double cabin, an enclosed head and a saloon that converts into a second berth, designed by Centkowski & Denert Design with Jeanneau Design. Four boats carry the name: the first generation (model years 2016–2020, 7.43 m, up to 200 hp), the fishing-oriented 795 Marlin (2017–2021, 7.17 m), the 795 Serie 2 with a new hull (from model year 2021, 7.19 m, up to 250 hp) and the 795 Sport Serie 2 with recessed side decks (from model year 2022); in North America the last two are sold as the NC 795 and NC 795 Sport. Jeanneau sells the boat as a hull without engine for a single outboard, and its 2027 lists offer Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki pre-rigs, so engines, controls and electronics differ from boat to boat. Jeanneau’s earlier US-built NC 795 has its own, slightly different data and is not covered here.

Good to know
- Tell the generations apart by length and the power rating: the first generation is 7.43 m overall and rated for up to 200 hp, the Serie 2 with its new hull is 7.19 m overall and rated for up to 250 hp. When repowering, the Serie 2, the Sport Serie 2 and the 795 Marlin of the 2021 list take an outboard with a 25-inch (635 mm) shaft; for a first-generation boat Jeanneau’s documents give no shaft length, so measure the transom.1,4,7
- On every version most comfort items were options: fridge, marine toilet with holding tank, water heater, diesel heater, bow thruster, electric windlass, trim tabs and electronics. Check what a boat really has instead of going by the brochure; the hot-water shower shown there, for example, needs the optional 220 V water heater.1,2,4,9
- Jeanneau first offered trim tabs (Lenco, or Zipwake automatic) with the Serie 2 in model year 2021; the first-generation lists show none. Tabs on a first-generation 795 were added later, so check how they were mounted and wired.9,4,6
- Before replacing electronics, note the factory transducer. First-generation boats had Lowrance packs (Elite-7 CHIRP, Elite 7 Ti or HDS Touch, with an HDI transducer); Serie 2 boats have Garmin ECHOMAP or GPSMAP packs with a GT20-TM, GT23-TM or GT23M-TM transom transducer. Staying with a Garmin unit that works with the fitted transducer can save running new cables.4,6,9,1,2
- The engine pre-rig decides the helm hardware: Yamaha DBW and Mercury or Suzuki ‘electric control’ pre-rigs use electronic throttles, Yamaha SBW pre-rigs replace the standard hydraulic steering with electric steer-by-wire, and some pre-rigs add a second helm station. Find out which pre-rig a used boat has before buying controls or a new engine.1,2
- Jeanneau does not publish the owner’s manual online, but its help centre says a digital copy exists for almost every Jeanneau boat. Ask for it through the help button there, and have the boat’s hull identification number (HIN) at hand.23
