Delete your account
Your account is yours to close, at any time and without giving a reason. This page explains how to do it and exactly what gets deleted.
Delete your account in the app
Open Profile → Settings, scroll to Danger zone and tap Delete account. You get a summary of what is removed and what stays, and are then asked to type DELETE to confirm. Because that is the only barrier, do not leave your phone unlocked and unattended while you are signed in.
Deletion runs immediately, not on a queue. When it is done you are signed out and back on the welcome screen, and the account no longer exists.
Cancel your subscription first. Premium and Dealer subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us. Deleting your boatparts.app account does not cancel them. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings before you delete, or you will keep being charged for a service you no longer have.
If you cannot use the app
Already uninstalled it, or locked out? Send an email from the address your account is registered with to mail@boatparts.app with the subject "Delete my account". Sending from the registered address is how we confirm it is really you; if you signed up with Apple or Google, tell us which provider you used and we will verify another way. We delete the account and tell you when it is done — within 30 days at the latest, and usually within a few working days.
What gets deleted
- your login and authentication record;
- your profile: display name, avatar, boat details, social links;
- your username, which becomes available to other users again;
- all of your listings, including the photos you uploaded;
- your favourites;
- your open offers, on your own listings and on other people's;
- your notifications and your push notification token;
- every conversation you were part of — on both sides. Deleting your account removes each chat in full, including the other person's messages in it. If a conversation matters to you or to someone you dealt with, save it before you delete.
What we keep, and why
- Ratings you gave to others. Removing them would distort the reputation other users have earned. They remain, without a link to your deleted profile.
- Records we must retain by law. Where accounting or tax law requires it, data is kept for the applicable statutory period — in practice, financial records for seven years — and is used for nothing else during that time.
- Open abuse or fraud cases. If your account is involved in an unresolved report, we keep what we need to finish handling it and to defend against legal claims.
This cannot be undone
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account, its listings or its photos afterwards. If you only want a break, sign out — or pause your listings under My listings, which hides them from search and the map without deleting anything.
Just want a copy of your data?
You do not have to delete your account to get your data. Write to mail@boatparts.app and ask for an export under Art. 15 and Art. 20 GDPR, and we will send you a machine-readable copy. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
