Lagoon 380
The Lagoon 380 is an 11.55 m cruising catamaran designed by VPLP (Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost), with an interior by Xavier Faÿ, and built by Lagoon in Bordeaux from 1999. Long the smallest Lagoon, it was by Lagoon’s count the world’s best-selling liveaboard multihull for many years, and its vertical windows set the style for later models such as the Lagoon 470 and 570. This page covers the original 380 and the 380 S2 (listed under that name on Lagoon’s website by 2005). Both came as an owner’s version with 3 cabins or a charter version with 4, with two saildrive diesels of 18 to 21 hp as standard.

Good to know
- Lagoon no longer offers the 380’s owner’s manual as a download. If your dealer cannot supply it for your hull, Lagoon sends the PDF on request to info@catamarans-lagoon.com.11
- Check which engines a used 380 really has before ordering parts: Lagoon quoted 2 × 18 hp Yanmar saildrives in 2000 and 2005, 2 × 20 hp in the 2010–2014 documents and Yanmar 3YM20 with 21 hp from 2015, with options up to 30 hp. The type plate decides which filters and impellers fit.5,6,2,1
- Lagoon catamarans built between 2007 and 2019 with fixed Goiot emergency hatches fall under a recall: a retaining kit is fitted, and Goiot now advises replacing these hatches every 10 years, kit or not. Contact a Lagoon dealer or service centre with the model and HIN.12
- At haul-out, renew the hull and saildrive anodes before they are half worn, check their metal contact and never paint them; check that the propeller blades move freely and refit folding propellers before launching.4
- For the yard or road transport: the hull centrelines are 4.50 m apart, the boat stands 4.08 m high on its keels without the mast, and the mast is 15.45 m long with a 3.40 m boom.4
- Lagoon’s reefing guide for the 380, in apparent wind: upwind take the first reef at 20 knots and the second, with 60 % of the genoa, at 30 knots; off the wind the first at 23 and the second at 28 knots. The mainsail shrinks to 32.4 m² with one reef and 20.2 m² with two.4
