Beneteau Flyer 8
The Flyer 8 is Beneteau’s 8.17 m single-outboard dayboat on a 6.96 m Air Step hull, in two layouts: the open SPACEdeck with a centre console, and the SUNdeck with a sun pad over a small forward cabin, a galley unit and a separate head. The first generation (from autumn 2018, styled by Style & Design) was replaced in September 2022 by the Flyer 8 V2 by Andreani Design on the same hull, with a Pilot Edition from 2023; both are rated CE C and D for 10 people. Beneteau sells it as a hull without engine for one outboard of up to 350 hp (Suzuki, Mercury, Honda or Yamaha pre-rigs in Europe, Mercury only in North America) and does not publish the owner’s manual online: it comes from the dealer, or as a PDF by e-mail from Beneteau. The older and larger Flyer 8.8 (9 m, up to 500 hp) is a different boat and is not covered here.

Read the engine plate before ordering parts. |

Good to know
- A Flyer 8 leaves the yard without an engine, so every used boat has its own outboard and controls. Beneteau’s pre-rig kits (Suzuki, Mercury Verado, Honda or Yamaha, 200–350 hp in Europe, Mercury only in North America) bring that make’s throttle and gauges. Check the engine plate against the 350 hp limit and the XXL shaft (762 mm / 30″), and expect a new control kit and gauges if the owner changes to another make.1,14
- Telling the generations apart: first-generation boats (2018–2022) have a dashboard cut-out for a 9″ screen and a sports steering wheel as standard; the V2 (from September 2022) has a 12″ cut-out, and its equipment lists carry ‘V2’ in the title. Beneteau’s 2022 launch news also names lowered pulpits on the SPACEdeck, the ‘Smart Walkaround’ and sun pads with reclining backs on the SUNdeck, and a rigid T-top. Hull length, fuel tank and the 350 hp limit stay the same.20,3,1
- Beneteau changed the weights between list revisions: the V2 SPACEdeck’s light displacement is 2126 kg in the September 2022 launch list and 2282 kg from July 2024, the SUNdeck’s 2251 kg and then 2409 kg. Check which list a weight figure, for example for a trailer, comes from; the V2 model pages on beneteau.com still show the 2022 figures.18,24,1,2,4,28
- The 340 l fuel tank sits at the back of the cockpit locker with its filler on the transom; the 80 l fresh-water soft tank and, if fitted, the 88 l holding tank are in the cockpit locker too. Open it at a survey to check the hoses and fittings.1,2
- Beneteau does not publish the Flyer 8 owner’s manual online. Ask the selling dealer, or e-mail Beneteau (info@beneteau.fr) for a PDF copy; the help centre also explains where to download brochures and equipment lists.29,30
- Beneteau’s own outboard advice: rinse the engine with fresh water after every trip, check the propeller for impact damage and fishing line, flush the cooling system with a flushing kit when the boat is out of the water, have the yearly service done to the engine maker’s schedule and winterise at the end of the season (batteries, fuel stabiliser, steering hoses and clamps).31
