Dufour 382 Grand Large
The Dufour 382 Grand Large is an 11.25 m cruising yacht drawn by Felci Yacht Design (Umberto Felci) and built by Dufour Yachts at Périgny near La Rochelle, France. Dufour launched it in summer 2014, its 50th-anniversary year, to replace the Dufour 380, and Cruising World named it Best Midsize Cruiser of its 2016 Boat of the Year. Every boat has a 30 hp diesel on a saildrive (40 hp as an option), a 1.90 m keel or a 1.60 m shoal keel, a standard or tall mast, and a layout with 2 or 3 cabins, 1 or 2 heads and a longitudinal or L-shaped galley. Dufour’s pages called it 382 Grand Large until summer 2019 and Dufour 382 from September 2019; the model page was online until November 2019, and by December 2019 the 382 had left the range, which by then included the Grand Large 390 of 2018. Dufour does not publish the owner’s manual: it came in the owner’s pack delivered with the boat, and documentation and spare parts are requested through Dufour’s owner-request form, which still lists the Dufour 382.

Manuals & documents
Dufour publishes no owner’s manual for the 382: it came in the owner’s pack delivered with the boat, and owners ask for documentation and spare parts through the builder’s owner-request form, which lists the Dufour 382. The other links go to Dufour’s own documents as archived copies (the specifications of 2014 and 2015, the model pages of 2014 to 2019 and two Dufour articles), to the designer’s page and to independent boat tests. We host nothing.

Equipment & its manuals
Standard equipment as the builder’s documents list it. Boats were ordered with options and refitted since — check what is actually aboard.
| Item | Model | Manual / page | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine | Diesel 30 hp1,2,3,4,5,6All boats: 30 hp (22 kW) diesel on a saildrive as standard, 40 hp as an option; Dufour names no make or type | — | Specification list: heat-exchanger cooling with anti-siphon valve, fuel filter with water separator, emergency fuel shut-off, panel at the helm with hour meter and rev counter, alternator with charge splitter, electric engine-room extractor, separate engine bilge, access from the front and both sides depending on the layout. SAIL and Canadian Boating (both 2016) name a 30 hp Volvo Penta as standard, and SAIL’s test boat had the 40 hp option. Read the engine plate before ordering parts. |
| Saildrive | Saildrive1,2,7All boats; the specifications say only ‘sail-drive’, make and type not named | — | Volvo Penta’s leaflet lists the 130S saildrive for its D1-30, so a boat with that engine most likely has a 130S leg; confirm it on the plate on the leg before ordering seals, anodes, gear oil or a propeller. |
| Propeller | 2-blade fixed1,2Fixed two-blade propeller in the 2014–2015 specifications; make not named | — | |
| Steering | —1,2,5,8All boats: twin wheels on polyester consoles with a compass on each; single semi-elliptical rudder on a solid stainless-steel stock | — | Engine controls and panel at the starboard helm. The emergency tiller fits the rudder-stock head under the helmsman’s floor; the steering gear is reached through a hinged, removable Moabi cover in the aft cabin. |
| Winches | —1,2,5,8,62015 specifications: 2 halyard winches at the companionway (1 in the July 2014 description); sheet winches and winch sizes not itemised, make not named | — | Also listed: 2 deck organisers with 4 and 5 sheaves, 2 rows of jammers at the companionway, a jammer for the furling line and 2 winch handles with a holder. SAIL’s test boat had Lewmar primaries on the coaming ahead of the wheels; Cruising World describes a double-ended mainsheet led to a winch at each helm, and Canadian Boating’s boat had larger winches with the Grand Prix pack. |
| Windlass | —1,2,52014–2015 specifications: a windlass mount in the anchor locker only, no windlass in the standard list | — | Self-draining anchor locker moulded into the deck, with a chain eyebolt and a lockable lid. SAIL describes a bow roller slightly offset to port as standard and a stainless/composite bowsprit as an option; its test boat had an electric Lofrans X2 as an extra. Read the plate on the windlass actually fitted before ordering a gypsy or motor parts. |
| Furler | —1,2,9,5,6Roller furler for the headsail in every list; make not named by Dufour | — | Self-tacking jib on a track ahead of the mast as standard; two deck tracks for the optional 108 % genoa are fitted on every boat. SAIL and Canadian Boating both name a Facnor furler on their test boats. |
| Mast & rigging | —1,2,10,5,9All boats: 9/10 fractional rig, deck-stepped anodised aluminium mast with two sets of swept spreaders, aluminium boom with 2 continuous reefing lines; standard or tall mast, in-mast furling as an option; make not named by Dufour | — | Single-strand stainless-steel standing rigging with chrome-plated bronze bottlescrews (forestay, twin backstay, intermediates and lowers), one chainplate per side for the cap shrouds and lowers; rig earthed. SAIL reports a Z-Spar mast on its test boat. The boom sits low at the gooseneck, as on all Grand Large models. |
| Sails | —1,2,10,9,52014–2015 specifications: battened mainsail with 2 wide reefs and a bag; furling headsail with UV strip | — | Options named by Dufour: full-batten or in-mast furling mainsail, 108 % genoa, Code 0 on a fixed bowsprit. SAIL’s test boat had an Elvström Dacron mainsail. |
| Toilet | —1,2,9,4Manual marine toilet in the aft head (2014–2015 specifications); a second head is available with the longitudinal galley; make not named | — | Head with hot and cold water, mixer tap and shower head; the basin and shower drain overboard through an electric pump. The lists give no holding-tank details. |
| Fridge | —1,2,3,5,1112 V electric refrigerator (2014–2015 specifications); make and volume not named; Dufour’s pages advertise a ‘king size fridge’ | — | SAIL’s test boat with the L-shaped galley had a top-loading Isotherm fridge; the test boat of mysailing.com.au with the longitudinal galley had a 160 l unit with two pull-out drawers. |
| Stove | —1,2,5Gimballed two-burner gas cooker with oven and a removable folding Corian cover (2014–2015 specifications); make not named | — | Gas bottle in the port aft cockpit locker. SAIL names an Eno cooker on its test boat. |
| Water heater | —1,2Water heater heated by the engine through the heat exchanger; volume and make not given | — | |
| Water pump | —1,2Pressurised fresh-water pump unit (2014–2015 specifications); make not named | — | Hot and cold pressure water in the galley and the head; cold-water shower in the cockpit. |
| Bilge pump | —1,2One electric pump with strainer, switched at the panel, and one manual pump worked from the cockpit; makes not named | — | The bilge sump is built into the keel area with access to the strainer; shower water is pumped straight overboard. |
| Instruments | —1,2,5Option in the 2014–2015 specifications: instrument positions at both helms; makes not named | — | The transducers are reached from the forward cabin. SAIL’s test boat had a Raymarine plotter and instruments at each wheel; Dufour names no instrument, autopilot or plotter make, so read the units actually fitted. |
| Batteries | —1,212 V system with one isolator per battery bank in the starboard aft cabin; number and capacity of the batteries not stated | — | Panel with 15 circuit breakers, voltmeter and a 12 V socket; engine alternator with charge splitter. No battery charger is listed. |
| Shore power | —1,2Watertight shore-power socket in the cockpit (2014–2015 specifications) | — | |
| Hatches & ports | —1,24 deck hatches, 4 opening coachroof ports with curtains, 2 large fixed coachroof windows and 4 fixed hull ports (2014–2015 specifications) | — |

Good to know
- Dufour names no make for the engine, saildrive, winches, windlass, furler, toilet or electronics in its 2014–2015 specifications or on any 382 page; broker listings that do are not the builder’s word. SAIL and Canadian Boating name a 30 hp Volvo Penta as standard, and many boats have the 40 hp option, so read the plates on the engine and the saildrive leg before ordering filters, impellers, seals or anodes.2,4,5,6
- Find out which rig the boat has before ordering sails, a furler foil or standing rigging: standard or tall mast, classic or in-mast furling mainsail, self-tacking jib or 108 % genoa, with or without bowsprit, and sometimes an inner forestay. Dufour’s I, J, P and E figures are for the standard rig only; Cruising World gives about 16.8 m air draft for the standard rig and 18.8 m for the tall one.10,2,8,5
- Check which keel is fitted before planning a haul-out, a cradle or shallow anchorages: 1.90 m with the standard keel or 1.60 m with the shoal keel. Cruising World’s judges sailed the shoal-keel boat and said they would pick the deep keel to reduce leeway; both are bolted on through stainless-steel backing plates.2,4,8
- Know the emergency steering and engine access before you need them: the emergency tiller fits the rudder-stock head under the helmsman’s floor, the steering gear is reached through a hinged Moabi cover in the aft cabin, and the engine sits behind a hinged wooden cover on a gas strut at the companionway, with side access depending on the layout and a double bulkhead towards the aft cabin.1,2
- Where things are for surveys and refits: diesel (200 l) under the starboard aft berth, fresh water under the forward berth and the port aft berth, the transducers in the forward cabin, the battery isolators in the starboard aft cabin and the gas bottle in the port aft cockpit locker. In the two-cabin layouts the space to port behind the shower becomes a large lazarette.1,2,5
- There is no public owner’s manual: the specifications say it came in the owner’s pack delivered with the boat. If it is missing, or for spare parts, use Dufour’s owner-request form, choose ‘Dufour 382’ and give the HIN and hull number; Dufour passes the request to an expert for your sailing area.20,2
