Princess V40
The Princess V40 is the smallest sports yacht in Princess Yachts’ V Class, built in Plymouth, England, since its debut at boot Düsseldorf in 2017: a 12.98 m deep-V hardtop boat with an electric sliding sunroof, a wet bar in the cockpit, an owner’s cabin forward with en-suite bathroom and a twin cabin aft. Every V40 has twin Volvo Penta D6 diesels on duo-prop sterndrives: Princess listed the D6-330 DP until 2019, then the D6-340 DP, and since 2024 the table on its model page shows the D6-380 DP, while the brochure still names the D6-340 DP. The 60th Anniversary Edition, presented at boot Düsseldorf 2025, keeps the same dimensions and layout. Princess publishes no owner’s manual online: a set of manuals comes with the boat, and boats with Princess Connect have their user guides in the app.

Good to know
- Read the engine plates before ordering parts. Princess listed the V40 with twin Volvo Penta D6-330 DP until 2019, then the D6-340 DP; from 2024 the table on its model page shows the D6-380 DP, while the brochure and the FAQ on the same page still say D6-340 DP, and Princess does not say from which boat on the change applies.1,3,8,7,6
- The length depends on the page: 12.98 m including the pulpit in every year, but without the pulpit 12.65 m on the 2017–2023 pages and 12.35 m from 2024, with the same layout. For a marina berth or an insurance quote, give the length with the pulpit, or measure the boat.1,4,8,7,6
- The 60th Anniversary Edition (from boot Düsseldorf 2025) is an edition of the V40, not a new model: Princess lists it with the same dimensions and layout, so search and compare it as a V40. Its page gives a displacement of about 9592 kg, against 10145 kg on the 2019–2023 pages and 10098 kg in 2024, so use the figure that matches the boat’s year.3,4,8,9,7
- Princess publishes no options list for the V40: its lists only mention an electric barbecue in the wet bar and an electro-hydraulic bathing platform. A generator, air conditioning, bow thruster, chart plotter, radar or autopilot on a used boat was added as an option or later, so note make and model on board before ordering parts. Boats for North America have air conditioning and an upgraded generator as standard and cook electrically.1,4,7
- Princess has no owner’s manual for download: each boat came with a set of manuals (owner’s manual and engine manual), and on boats with Princess Connect the app holds a library of user guides and manuals. Ask the seller for the manual set, or a Princess distributor for copies.1,6,7
- Each engine has its own Volvo fuel filter/water separator with a water warning light at the helm (the 2019 pages list duplex filters/water traps with an alarm). The two aluminium tanks, 730 l in all, are connected, with fillers on both side decks and remote fuel cocks in a cockpit locker: drain the separators at every service.3,4,6
