Yamaha Enduro 15
The Yamaha Enduro E15D is a 246 cc two-cylinder two-stroke of 15 hp with recoil start, tiller and a separate tank; Yamaha’s parts catalogue lists it as model type 6B41, together with its 9.9 hp twin, the E9.9D. Yamaha builds it as a heavy-duty engine for fishing and work boats and still sells it in Africa, the Pacific, Asia and Latin America, and long-distance cruisers know it as the classic dinghy engine that keeps running far from any dealer. The leisure 15F and 9.9F share the same engine but take a different water pump kit and impeller, gearcase anode, gasket kits and spark plug. The larger Enduro E25B is a different engine that shares only the fuel filter.

Yamaha’s manual libraries list no Enduro manual, so these intervals come from the chart in Yamaha Europe’s owner’s manual 63V-28199-7L-E0 (2020) for the leisure 15F/9.9F, which has the same 246 cc engine; the E15D’s own chart from 2003 could not be read reliably. Hours or months, whichever comes first. The chart assumes about 100 hours a year; for long days at high load, frequent starts or trolling Yamaha asks for the work twice as often, which fits typical Enduro use.

| Versions | E15D and E9.9D share every service part on this page; the E9.9D differs in main jet (#110 instead of #108), reed valve assembly and cowling. The leisure 15F has the same engine but its own water pump kit and impeller, gearcase anode, gasket kits and spark plug, and runs 100:1 after break-in. | Years built | Since the 2003 model year (first year in Yamaha’s parts catalogue); still in Yamaha’s Enduro range1,5 |
Good to know
- Order wear parts by model code, not by “15 hp two-stroke”: the Enduro E15D/E9.9D takes water pump kit 6B4-W0078-0A, impeller 682-44352-03 and gearcase anode 6B4-45251-00, while the look-alike leisure 15F takes 63V-W0078-01, 63V-44352-01 and 61N-45251-01.1
- Mix the Enduro at 50:1 (2 %). That figure comes from a Yamaha dealer’s page (Budget Marine), since Yamaha publishes no Enduro manual online; the 100:1 in the leisure 15F manual applies to the 15F after break-in, not to the Enduro.6,3
- The standard plug is a non-resistor NGK B8HS-10, one heat range colder than the leisure model’s BR7HS-10. Carry two spares gapped at 0.9–1.0 mm: a dinghy engine that spends most of its life idling fouls plugs sooner than one run hard.1
- There is no shear pin: the propeller sits on a splined shaft behind a castle nut and cotter pin (91490-30020). Keep a few spare cotter pins aboard and never reuse an old one.3,1
- Look for a steady jet from the cooling-water tell-tale every time you start. A weak stream means a worn impeller or a blocked tell-tale hole; on long passages carry a spare impeller or the complete pump kit.3
- The in-line fuel filter (61N-24560-00) has a clear cup: check it for water and dirt whenever you refuel from jerrycans of unknown quality.1
