Hanse 345

The Hanse 345 is a 10.40 m cruising yacht (9.99 m hull) designed by judel/vrolijk & co and built by HanseYachts AG in Greifswald, Germany. It joined the range at the end of 2012 as the replacement for the Hanse 355, Hanse’s history dates it to 2012–13, and the last specification list is for model year 2016/2017; the YACHT magazine calls the Hanse 348 of 2018 its successor. It has a self-tacking jib, twin wheels with all lines led aft to two winches, a cast-iron T-keel of 1.87 m or an L-shaped shallow keel of 1.55 m, and two layouts: one aft cabin with a large head and separate shower, or two aft cabins. The list of July 2014 names a Volvo D1-20 of 13.3 kW (18 hp) on a saildrive and magazine tests name the 27 hp Volvo Penta D1-30 as the option, while the list of December 2016 says only ‘diesel’ and changes the CE category from A to B. There is no public owner’s manual: Hanse’s owners area gives registered owners the manuals of the fitted equipment, wiring plans and drawings.

Manuals & documents

Hanse publishes no owner’s manual for the 345: it came with the boat, and the owners area with the manuals of the installed equipment, technical documents, wiring plans and drawings needs registration with the boat’s CE code or Sentinel ID. The links go to the builder’s document server (the specification of December 2016, the brochure, the 2017 drawings, layouts, stability curves and ORC speed guide, and magazine tests that Hanse itself hosts), to its model-history page and to archived versions of Hanse’s websites from 2012, 2015 and 2022 with the specification of July 2014. The first specification of August 2012 was listed on the 2012 page but is not archived. We host no documents.

Good to know

  • Hanse fitted the Volvo D1-20 (13.3 kW / 18 hp) as standard; tests from 2013 to 2015 name the 27 hp Volvo Penta D1-30 as the option, and the list of December 2016 only says ‘diesel’. Volvo’s operator’s manual covers both with the saildrive, but they do not share every service part: read the plates on the engine and the leg before you order filters, impellers or anodes. Our D1-30 page covers both engines.1,6,7,2,9
  • Hanse’s figures depend on the document. The list of 1 July 2014 and the 2013 tests give CE category A, the list of December 2016, the brochure CIB345/D/0117 and the 2022 web page give B, without a reason; the sail plans give 6.0 t, 1.80 t of ballast and 1.90 / 1.50 m of draft against 6.20 t, 2.03 t and 1.87 / 1.55 m in the lists. Go by the CE plate and the build year before you compare adverts.1,4,2,3,18,16
  • The standard T-keel draws 1.87 m with about 2030 kg of ballast, the optional L-shaped shallow keel 1.55 m with about 2200 kg; Hanse’s own 2022 page swaps the labels (‘L-keel, medium 1.55 m’, ‘T-keel, deep 1.87 m’), so measure rather than trust an advert. The cast-iron keel hangs on stainless bolts that you reach through an inspection hatch in the saloon sole; look at them and the keel joint after any grounding.1,2,17,18,6
  • The electronics changed brand over the years: the first boats tested in 2012 and 2013 had Simrad packages (NSS8 plotter, IS40 displays, Simrad autopilot), while the packages in the brochure CIB345/D/0117 are B&G (Zeus² plotter, Triton displays, V50 VHF, RC42 compass). Check what is fitted before you buy a display, transducer or pilot part, as the two brands do not share them.11,6,7,3
  • The lists do not name the makers of the rig, furler and steering. Tests report a two-spreader Z-Spars rig (YACHT 12/2012, Yachting Monthly 02/2013, Sail 05/2015), a Furlex furler with a Seldén traveller (Sail) and Jefa wheel steering (YACHT, Yachting Monthly, marina.ch). Look for the makers’ labels on the spars and in the steering compartment before you order rigging, furler or steering parts.1,11,8,7,5
  • The owner’s manual came with the boat but is not public. Register in Hanse’s owners area with the CE code or the Sentinel ID to get the manuals of the installed equipment, technical documents, wiring plans and drawings; when you buy used, ask the seller for the CE code. The drawings, layouts, stability curves and the December 2016 list are free on the builder’s document server.24,2
