Beneteau Oceanis 46.1

The Oceanis 46.1 is a 14.60 m cruising yacht built by Beneteau from 2018, designed by Pascal Conq (Finot-Conq) with deck and interior by Nauta Design. It came into the range after the Oceanis 45 (2011–2018) and keeps the stepped hull of the larger Oceanis 51.1, with twin rudders, twin wheels and the lines led aft to the helm stations. The standard boat has an in-mast furling mainsail, a self-tacking jib and a 57 hp Yanmar common-rail diesel (80 hp optional); the First Line version adds a mast one metre taller, a 2.65 m keel with a lead bulb and Harken Performa winches. Layouts run from 3 cabins with 2 heads to 5 cabins with 3 heads; Beneteau’s equipment lists date from July 2018 to July 2024, and the older Oceanis 46 of 2005–2014 is a different design.

Good to know

  • Read the engine plate rather than the listing: Beneteau’s lists only say “Yanmar 57 HP Common Rail” (80 hp optional) and name neither the engine type nor the drive. Engine documents and certificates come from Yanmar or its dealers, not from Beneteau, as Beneteau’s help centre says.1,9
  • The engine is reached from three sides: the companionway lifts on two gas struts, and there is an access from each aft cabin. The 200 l diesel tank sits under the starboard aft berth, where Beneteau also offered an extra 200 l diesel or water tank, so check what is actually fitted under that berth.1,3
  • Three keels were offered: deep cast iron, 2.35 m with 2735 kg of ballast; shallow cast iron, 1.75 m with 3061 kg; and the First Line keel with a lead bulb, 2.65 m with 2576 kg. The shallow keel is the heaviest, and Beneteau does not combine the Performance pack with it; check which keel the boat has before comparing prices or booking a berth.1,3
  • Two generations of equipment: Beneteau’s July 2018 list has B&G electronics packs (Zeus, NAC3, V50, Triton²) and 120 Ah batteries, the July 2024 list Raymarine (Axiom+, Axiom 2 Pro, p70s, RAY73, i70s) and 100 Ah AGM batteries. No list from the years in between could be found, so the change cannot be dated from Beneteau’s documents: go by what is fitted.3,1
  • The standard electrics list no battery charger; two 40 A chargers come with the Comfort or Family trim. On a base boat, ask which charger was added, and whether the optional 2 × 150 Ah lithium service bank is fitted, because lithium needs a charge setup that suits it.1
  • Beneteau does not publish the owner’s manual online. Ask the selling or a local Beneteau dealer first; if the dealer cannot supply it, Beneteau’s help centre says you can request a PDF copy by e-mail from info@beneteau.fr. The current equipment list and the e-brochure stay downloadable from the model page.10,4
