Raymarine i70 & i70s
The i70 (from 2010) and its successor, the i70s (from 2016), are Raymarine’s 4.1-inch colour multifunction instruments for SeaTalkng, linked to NMEA 2000 and SeaTalk 1 through adaptor cables: one display shows wind, speed, depth, engine, navigation and AIS pages, on sailing yachts as well as motorboats. The single-function i50 (Speed, Depth, Tridata) and i60 (Wind, Close-Hauled Wind) share their 110 × 115 mm face and 92 mm cut-out but have their own transducer terminals; the i70/i70s has none, so analog paddle wheels, depth transducers, the masthead wind vane and the Rotavecta connect through the iTC-5 converter, while smart sensors such as the DST800 smart and the DST810 plug straight into the backbone. Airmar, who builds the DST sensors, now lists the DST810 among its legacy products next to the new DST820.

| Transducer | A2215411,2,12,3,13,14 | — | DST800 analog depth, speed and temperature: plastic, 51 mm through-hull, retractable with valve, 14 m cable with spade terminals. Works directly on the i50 Tridata (one function each on the i50 Speed or Depth) and on the i70/i70s through the iTC-5; not on the i60. On the iTC-5, connect the cable screen to the depth terminal only and leave the speed/temperature screen unconnected. |
| Transducer | E706672,15,16,17,18replaces E70617 | — | DST810 smart depth, speed and temperature: plugs into the SeaTalkng backbone without an iTC-5; an i50/i60 can only repeat its data. The Gen2 E70667 (new paddle wheel, same housing) replaced E70617 from July 2022. Calibrate from the i70/i70s (supported since software v3.19; use v3.20 or later, as v3.19 had a calibration fault) or with Airmar’s CAST app. Raymarine still sells E70667, but Airmar now lists the DST810 as a legacy product next to the new DST820; a Raymarine successor number is not known yet. Cable length differs by source: 2.5 m on Raymarine’s product page, 9 ft (2.8 m) in Raymarine’s technical update TU0810. |
| Transducer | A803752,15,19replaces A22111 | — | DST800 smart depth, speed and temperature, plastic, for the i70/i70s directly on SeaTalkng (no iTC-5). The 2025 i70/i70s manuals list A80375 where the 2016 i70s manual had A22111; the bronze version is A22146. |
| Transducer | A803742,15,19,20replaces A22112 | — | DT800 smart depth and temperature (no speed), 12° tilt, plastic, for the i70/i70s on SeaTalkng; bronze version A22147. The 2025 manuals list A80374 in place of A22112, yet Raymarine’s DT800 product page still sells A22112, so a dealer may stock either number. |
| Paddle wheel (speed sensor) | 33-398-0421 | — | Airmar paddle wheel kit for the DST800 with valve: wheel and shaft with the newer, shorter pin, plus four O-rings. For DST800 sensors on an i50 Tridata or on an iTC-5; not for the DST810. One source (a dealer). |
| Paddle wheel (speed sensor) | R7096118 | — | Replacement paddle wheel kit for the DST810 Gen2 E70667 only; Raymarine says it does not fit the earlier E70617 or any DST800. One source: Raymarine’s technical update TU0810 (July 2022), found only as a copy on a dealer’s server. |
| O-ring | 20-519-0122 | — | Airmar O-ring kit for a DST810 insert that goes into an older housing without valve (the insert then needs the black O-ring). |

Service intervals
| Task | Interval |
|---|---|
| Software update | No fixed interval: check Raymarine’s website now and then. Updates load from a Raymarine chartplotter that is the data master on the same SeaTalkng backbone. Latest i70/i70s release: v3.24 (March 2025); update the iTC-5 at the same time41,42,17 |
| Calibration | After installation and after any transducer change, in the i70/i70s Transducer Set-up menu: depth offset, speed (one point against SOG or a measured run), water temperature, wind (slow circles below 2 kn, then align head to wind), compass swing and rudder centre43,44,45,46 |
| Transducer care | Transducer face, regularly: growth can spoil readings within weeks. Soft cloth and mild detergent, a green scouring pad for heavier growth, fine wet-and-dry paper for severe growth; no acetone or harsh solvents47 |
| Transducer care | Antifouling: every 6 months or at the start of each season, water-based transducer antifouling only (never ketone-based paint or spray paint). Raymarine warns that sensors with a temperature element may misread when painted22,48,49 |
| Transducer care | Paddle wheel (DST800/DST810): fit the blanking plug when the boat stays in salt water for more than a week, when hauled out or when fouling is suspected. The wheel bearings last up to about 5 years below 10 kn and about 1 year on fast boats; then replace wheel, shaft and O-rings22,48 |
| Winterising | After haul-out, pull the blanking plug once so the water drains out, then refit it so ice cannot crack the plastic22 |
| Season check | Masthead wind vane, routinely and with the power off: locking collar tight, arm retaining clip in place, cables and connectors free of chafe and corrosion. No lubricant or sealant on the vane; fit the protective cap whenever the arm is off29 |
| Electrical connections | Regularly: check every cable for damage or wear and that each connector is secure and locked50,51 |
| Fresh-water wash | Fit the sun cover whenever the display is not in use (take it off at speed and when trailering). Rinse cover and screen with fresh water and let them dry; microfibre cloth only, no chemicals, no pressure washer52,53,54 |
From Raymarine’s i70/i70s and iTC-5 manuals, the wind vane instructions 87220 and Airmar’s DST800 and DST810 guides. Apart from Airmar’s six-monthly antifouling, none of them sets a fixed interval.

Good to know
- i70 or i70s? The i70s (from 2016) has the brighter 1200 cd/m² screen, is rated IPX7 as well as IPX6, has one SeaTalkng socket instead of two and its own bezels (A80353/A80354) and sun cover (A80357); the older i70 shares bezel R22168 and sun cover R22169 with the i50/i60. Both run the same software and manual and fit the same 92 mm cut-out, so an i70s drops into an old i70, i50 or i60 hole. Raymarine’s manuals give no weight for any of these displays.2,6
- The i70/i70s has no transducer terminals. Analog sensors (paddle wheel, depth, wind vane, Rotavecta, fluxgate, rudder reference) go into an iTC-5; smart sensors (DST800 smart, DST810, P79S, RSW) plug into the backbone. Only an i70/i70s, an ST70/ST70+ or, for depth, speed and wind, an Axiom chartplotter can calibrate sensors on an iTC-5; without one of them, wire the sensors straight into an i50 or i60 instead.72
- Software matters with an iTC-5: an i70 needs at least v1.25, and v3.19 broke the calibration of iTC-5 and smart transducers until v3.20 fixed it. Updates load from a Raymarine chartplotter on the same backbone, so a boat without one needs a dealer visit. Update the iTC-5 too: v1.13 goes with i70 software v3.23/v3.24.17,70
- Power the SeaTalkng backbone once, at 12 V, through a 5 A fuse or 3 A breaker, into a white spur socket (never a blue backbone socket) and not from the engine start battery; each i70 adds LEN 3 and each i50/i60 LEN 4. Old SeaTalk 1 gear can stay: an i70s or i50/i60 sits directly on the SeaTalk 1 bus with adaptor cable A06073 or A06047, or the SeaTalk 1 units keep their own spur behind the E22158 converter, powered from the SeaTalkng side only. Don’t join a mixed SeaTalk 1/SeaTalkng system to an NMEA 2000 backbone.3
- Log reads zero or too low while the temperature still works: pull the insert, fit the blanking plug, scrub the paddle wheel and check that it spins freely. A new wheel goes in with the flat side of the blades facing the arrow on the insert (toward the bow), and every O-ring must be undamaged and greased before refitting. On a DST810 the Gen2 wheel R70961 only fits the Gen2 E70667, and the valve slows the inflow but does not seal it.22,18
- Masthead vane: a replacement R28170/R28171 comes without cable, so it only works if there is enough slack at the masthead to refit the plug; otherwise order cable A28162/A28163 or a complete E22078/E22079. Cups and vane alone come as kit A28167. After any wind sensor change, recalibrate on the i60 or i70.29
