Hanse 415

The Hanse 415 is a 12.40 m cruising yacht from HanseYachts AG in Greifswald, Germany, designed by judel/vrolijk & co with an interior by HanseYachts Design. It followed the Hanse 400, had its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf in January 2012 and stayed in Hanse’s range until mid-2017, when the Hanse 418 took its place on the same hull. Standard were a self-tacking jib, twin wheels, a 2.10 m cast-iron T-keel (L-keels of 1.72 m and 2.10 m as options) and, in the list of July 2014, a Volvo Penta D2-40 of 38 hp on a saildrive, with the 53 hp D2-55 as an option; the list of July 2016 gives only the rating, without the maker. There is no public owner’s manual: Hanse’s owners area with manuals, wiring plans and drawings needs registration with the boat’s CE code or Sentinel ID, while the 2016 specification and the drawings are still on the builder’s document server.

Manuals & documents

Hanse publishes no owner’s manual for the 415: it came with the boat, and the owners area with the manuals of the installed equipment, technical documents, wiring plans and drawings needs registration with the boat’s CE code or Sentinel ID. The links go to the builder’s document server (the specification of July 2016, the sail plans, stability curve, hull and deck plans, interior layouts and ORC speed guides), its historical-models page and archived Hanse pages: the specification of July 2014, the 2015 option lists and the 2013 configurator packages. We host no documents.

Good to know

  • Hanse’s July 2014 list names the engine: a Volvo Penta D2-40 of 38 hp as standard and the D2-55 of 53 hp as an option, each on a saildrive. The July 2016 list gives only a diesel of the same rating, so on a late boat read the engine plate and the plate on the saildrive leg before you buy filters, impellers or the diaphragm.1,2
  • Know your keel before you compare adverts or book a crane: the standard 2.10 m T-keel boat weighs about 8.90 t, the shallow 1.72 m L-keel version about 9.36 t (9400 kg in the sail plans, with 3360 kg of ballast instead of 2900 kg), and in 2015 Hanse also offered an L-keel at 2.10 m. The cast-iron keels hang on stainless keel bolts, so look at the keel joint after any grounding.1,2,3,11
  • The electronics depend on the build year: the July 2013 configurator offered Simrad packages (IS40, NSS8 or NSS12, RS25, autopilot with FC40 compass), the 2015 option list B&G (Triton, Zeus² 9 or 12, V50 with H50, autopilot with RC42, 4G radar). As standard the boat had only an illuminated compass, so a used 415 may carry either brand or a later refit.6,8,1,2
  • Check the fresh-water tanks: the lists of 2014 and 2016 give about 520 l in two tanks, but the 2015 option list also offers a 200 l additional tank that brings the total to 520 l. Count the tanks and fillers on deck before you plan a long passage.1,2,7
  • The halyard winches are written ‘45 AST EVO’ in the lists and Lewmar 45 ST EVO on Hanse’s option pages; secondary and electric 45 EST EVO winches were options, so count what is fitted. EVO winches come apart without tools: unscrew the top cap by hand.1,2,4,5
  • The owner’s manual came with the boat and is not public. Register in Hanse’s owners area with the CE code or Sentinel ID to get the manuals of the installed equipment, wiring plans and drawings in the Sentinel Marine Solutions app or web app; when you buy used, ask the seller for the CE code. The 2016 specification and the drawings stay downloadable from the builder’s document server.29,2
